It’s a Discover Over There blog post which means fast travels, efficient planning, and whirlwind itineraries. Sooooo yessss, one day in Singapore is totally enough!!! Singapore is only about 280 square miles, aka tiny. It’s basically the most compact city-country combo to exist. So while one day isn’t ideal (because you could easily spend a week here), if you’re just passing through or have a long layover, one day is definitely enough to hit the highlights and leave with zero regrets.
As mentioned above, Singapore is only ~280 square miles. But where exactly is it? Singapore is a small island nation located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula in Southeast Asia. It sits just north of the equator, bordered by Malaysia to the north and Indonesia to the south, making it a major hub between the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
Getting around Singapore is super easy thanks to its efficient and clean public transport system. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is the fastest way to zip around the city, with stations near almost every major attraction. You can buy a tourist pass or just tap-to-pay. Buses are pretty easy too. Or if you’re lazy like me, Grab (ie. Uber) is the way to go. I mostly walked everywhere but used Grab to/from the airport and if I started feeling too hot. In general, the city’s really walkable, so just bring comfy shoes and you should be fine!
Alright, enough with the logistics. Let’s get to the gooooood stuff. How are you actually going to spend your one day in Singapore? As always, it’s going to be a jam-packed day, so grab some water, mosquito spray, and this mini fan from Amazon and let’s get ready to explore the best of what Singapore has to offer in this whirlwind 24-hour itinerary. Which was personally vetted, tested, and approved by yours truly 💁🏻♀️
Short on time? Here’s a quick look at your morning itinerary for one day in Singapore!
Given that you only have one day in Singapore, you’re gonna want to start your morning checking out Singapore’s main attraction called Gardens by the Bay. There’s also a ton of individual attractions within Gardens by the Bay like the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest, Supertree Grove, Floral Fantasy, and more — but since you’re short on time, I’d suggest going for a close-to-sunrise stroll around the peace lily pond and the waterfront plaza.
Since the Skywalk and Cloud Forest don’t open until 9am, I recommend walking over to Marina Bay Sands and treating yourself to their iconic breakfast buffet at RISE. It’s legit famous. Think Vegas-style spread with fresh juices and enough food to keep you full for hours. They’ve got everything from Asian classics to Western staples, European favorites, and made-to-order specials. Here’s a link to their breakfast buffet menu in case you need more proof. (After eating at RISE, you might not even be hungry again until dinnertime).
Breakfast is served from 6:30am to 10:15am (last seating), and it starts at around SGD $54 (~$40 USD). Once you’re done, you’ll be perfectly timed to head over to the Skywalk and Cloud Forest before making your way to Fort Canning Park.
Prefer something a little more local than a hotel buffet? Check out my guide to the top 12 can’t-miss food and drink spots across Singapore.
Fort Canning Park is a lush, historic hilltop escape right in the heart of Singapore. Once a military base and the site of ancient Malay royalty, it’s now a peaceful spot filled with walking trails, colonial landmarks, and Instagram-worthy staircases. (This is where you’ll find that famous tunnel shot. But be prepared to wait in line. Which I did not haha). It’s a great place to stroll, soak up some history, and get a little break from the city buzz.
After Fort Canning Park, make your way to one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Singapore: Chinatown. This area has deep roots dating back to the early 1800s when Chinese immigrants first settled here, and it’s still full of culture, heritage, energy, and most importantly – FOOOOD.
Hopefully you’ve walked off some of that breakfast because Chinatown Complex is calling with some seriously delicious eats. The complex itself is a massive two-story building complete with souvenir shops on the first floor, and over 30+ different hawker stalls and eateries upstairs. Don’t miss the famous stall serving up Hainanese chicken rice (#02-041), it’s a local favorite for good reason.

Short on time? Here’s a quick look at your afternoon itinerary for one day in Singapore!
Now that you’re extremely full from your two large meals before noon, it’s time to go relax with a signature 75-minute facial from Skindays. Skindays is a Singapore-based health and wellness studio, that offers personalized, expert-led treatments priced affordably (first facial starts at just SGD 75, ~$60 USD). If only I had more time in Singapore, I would’ve definitely gone back for round two.
Not into facials? No problemooo. I’m willing to bet a good foot massage is more your vibe. Or really, any massage…because who doesn’t love a massage? Luckily, I stumbled upon OD Wellness and had what might’ve been the best foot massage of my life there. The pressure was literally perfect. And the price. 60 minutes for 45 SGD ($35 USD) or 90 minutes 65 SGD ($50 USD). Unbeatableeee. The states could never. And yes, I obviously chose the 90 minute session.
2025 is all about comfortable travel for me, and with just one day in Singapore, I wanted to give my body a little reset so I’d have enough energy to keep exploring all the way into the evening and make the most of every hour.
After you’ve melted all your stress away, head up to the rooftop at Mortar & Pestle for a drink with a view over Chinatown. The view was definitely cool, but the spot itself felt pretty mid. So if you’re short on time or not really in the mood, feel free to skip it. (Want a snack instead of a drink? Check out my blog post for more tasty recs).
You could easily grab a coffee somewhere else instead (like Nylon Coffee). Personally, I’d even suggest swinging by the Mondrian (where I stayed), heading up to the infinity pool bar for a drink, and freshening up a bit before heading back out for the night.
Short on time? Here’s a quick look at your evening itinerary for one day in Singapore!
If you’ve ever seen Crazy Rich Asians, then you’ll already know that Singapore comes ALIVE at night! So what better way to experience Singapore in just one day than by eating your way through it?? One of my favorite travel hacks when I’m short on time is to join a food tour — and this is the exact one I booked during my visit. It doubled as a history tour too, so it felt like I really got my money’s worth.
We kicked things off near Clarke Quay and wandered along the Singapore River, stopping at several restaurants along the way. We even made it to Marina Bay Sands and the Merlion at night to see them all lit up before wrapping things up at Lau Pa Sat with chicken satay, cold beers, and stir-fried noodles. The entire 3-hour experience literally flew by.
And before I knew it, it was already 9pm! I swear time flies on this 1-day Singapore itinerary.Getting around Singapore is super easy thanks to its efficient and clean public transport system. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is the fastest way to zip around the city, with stations near almost every major attraction. Buses are reliable too, and Grab (the local version of Uber) is widely available if you prefer a car. The city’s also super walkable in many areas, so bring comfy shoes and you’re good to go.
After the tour, I knew I wanted to sip on some handcrafted cocktails since I heard Singapore’s bar scene is top notch. Some of you might know that I’m usually a wine girlie, but lately I’ve been on a bit of a cocktail kick, especially when they’re more creative than your usual vodka soda. I recommend stopping by Night Hawk, which earned a spot on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, and finishing at Sago House.
Both spots serve up seriously unique cocktails, and the funky colorful wallpaper at Sago House is worth a visit alone 🌈
And that’s a wrap on your whirlwind 24 hours in Singapore itinerary!

I know the internet trolls might come after me to say “omg how can you only spend one day in Singapore”. Well duh, I’d obviously stay for longer if I could but not everyone has the luxury. I have this little thing called “work” you know??
But seriously — one day in Singapore might sound rushed, but with the right plan (aka this blog post), it’s more than enough to hit the highlights, eat some unforgettable food, and soak in the city’s unique vibe. From lush gardens and skyline views to foot massages and world-class cocktails, you really can do a little bit of everything. Whether you’re here on a layover or just squeezing Singapore into a packed travel schedule, this itinerary is proof that 24 hours is more than enough to experience the magic of Singapore!
