Nobody wants to leave Fido at home if they don’t have to — I mean, they say dogs are basically seen as children these days, especially to a millennial dog pawrent like myself. That’s why I’ve put together a list of the 11 best dog-friendly wineries in the Napa Valley!
There’s truly nothing better than a day trip or weekend staycation up to California wine country, with a delicious glass of Napa Valley Cabernet or Chardonnay, the warm sun on your back, and your four-legged child right by your side.
So keep reading for the 11 best dog-friendly wineries in Napa for your next trip to the valley!
Just keep in mind that most places will still require your dog to be on leash, and may not always allow them in the tasting room. So as long as your furry friend is well behaved, then you’re all set for a beautiful and fun day in wine country!

The 11 Best Dog-Friendly Wineries in Napa Valley
Napa Valley is no small place. It’s actually about 30 miles long and 5 miles wide. I think I always forget this even though I basically grew up here 🤷🏻♀️
Napa VaIley consists of five main towns — Napa, Yountville, St. Helena, Calistoga, and American Canyon. Plus, 16 sub-appellations (AVAs), including Oakville, Rutherford, and Stags Leap District. The region is known for its world-class wineries, diverse microclimates, and rolling vineyard-covered hills. Despite its small size, it packs in over 400 wineries and produces some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon in the world.
To help make things easier, I’ve listed all the best pet / dog-friendly wineries in order from south to north. (This is because visitors typically drive to the valley from the surrounding areas of San Francisco or other parts of the Bay Area).
So we’ll start with the first winery in the Los Carneros region and work our way up to wineries ending in Calistoga.
#1 Etude Wines
📍1250 Cuttings Wharf Rd, Napa, CA 94559
First stop on this totally official, highly prestigious (lol) list of the 11 best dog-friendly wineries list is Etude Wines! And one of my favorites because they have a massive lawn that’s great for adults, kids, and furry legged friends.
Located in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, Etude Wines is mostly known for their Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon but they do have a small selection of delicious whites! This is one of the closest dog-friendly wineries to San Francisco since it’s located right on the edge of Napa Valley. You can’t go wrong with a tasting here, especially if the weather is nice. The big grassy lawn (and fido) is definitely the star of the show here.
As with anywhere in Napa (especially during peak season), you’ll want to make a reservation in advance. Tastings at Etude start at $60/person.
#2 Trefethen Family Vineyards
📍 1160 Oak Knoll Ave, Napa, CA 94558
This is definitely one of our most recent discoveries and we loved Trefethen so much that we also signed up to be members during our last visit. My fiance prefers white wine (which is criminal in Napa but he’s from South Africa so I let it slide) which is hard to come by in the valley — until we found Trefethen Family Vineyards.
Trefethen Family Vineyards is basically Napa royalty since they’ve been family-owned since 1968. Which in Napa years is basically forever. Located in the Oak Knoll District, they’re one of the few wineries that still estate-grow all their grapes, meaning they control everything from vine to bottle. This is seriously so rare in Napa Valley.
While their Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are top-notch, their white wines steal the show—think crisp, refreshing Chardonnay and floral, citrusy Dry Riesling that’ll make you rethink everything you thought you knew about Riesling.
The winery itself is stunning and dogs are allowed both inside and outdoors. The indoor tasting room is inside a restored 19th-century wooden barn surrounded by rolling vineyards that feel straight out of a postcard. There’s also plenty of outdoor space for you and your fur baby to wander around in case they get restless.
The best part? Bagel suckered us into buying her a Trefethen champagne bottle chew toy but it was 100% worth it 🍾

#3 Clos du Val
📍 5330 Silverado Trail, Napa, CA 94558
Clos du Val is the perfect blend of prestige and paws 🐾
Clos du Val is definitely up there as one of Napa’s most legendary dog-friendly wineries. Which is why I love the fact that they’re dog-friendly. Located in the Stags Leap District, this estate has been crafting Bordeaux-inspired wines since 1972, with standout Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc that screaaaaammm French elegance.
Most of the tastings take place in the stunning Hirondelle House, a sleek, modern indoor/outdoor space with vineyard views that’ll make you want to move in immediately. Led by one of their knowledgeable estate hosts, you’ll sip through a selection of current-release wines while learning about the winery’s deep history and the unique terroir that makes their wines so special. It’s the kind of experience that feels fancy yet totally welcoming — especially since your pup is invited to join in on the fun.
Tastings here start at $75/person and reservations are required. However, they also offer a “by the glass” experience where you can enjoy wines on tap by the glass or bottle. Walk-ins are welcome but definitely suggest making a reservation in advance if you can for any of the wineries on this list.
#4 Pine Ridge Vineyards
📍 5901 Silverado Trail, Napa, CA 94558
It’s funny, I feel like I see Pine Ridge bottles all the time at the grocery store but never realized where it was before I made the trip to Napa specifically for this article.
Tucked away in the heart of Napa’s iconic Stags Leap District, the dog-friendly Pine Ridge Vineyards offers intimate tastings paired with breathtaking vineyard views. Their estate wines are sourced from over 160 acres of Napa’s best vineyards, and they’re best known for their Bordeaux-inspired wines, especially its Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blends.
Pine Ridge Vineyards offers a variety of tasting experiences, from intimate cave tours to outdoor garden reservations with stunning views of the terraced estate. You can opt for a seated tasting in the tasting room, enjoy a club-exclusive session in their hillside lounge, or delve into a Cellar 47 Cave Tour for a deep dive into their limited-edition wines.
And yes — the winery is definitely dog-friendly! Just keep in mind, pets aren’t allowed in the caves but are allowed in the tasting room and outdoor garden areas!
Tastings here start at $60/person. You can also make a 90-minute outdoor garden reservation which requires a 2-bottle minimum purchase for parties of 6 or more.
#5 Chandon
📍 1 California Dr, Yountville, CA 94599
Who doesn’t love a little bubbly in Napa Valley? There aren’t many pure “champagne” houses in the valley so Chandon is one of the best. And one of the only ones that are dog friendly!
Chandon in Yountville is the ultimate spot for sparkling wine lovers who also appreciate a good vibe (and a good patio). As the first French-owned sparkling wine house in Napa, they’ve been perfecting the art of bubbles for decades, with standouts like Chandon Brut and Chandon Rosé that go down way too easily.
The property is super dog-friendly, with a huge grassy area where your pup can lounge while you sip. There’s plenty of outdoor seating under towering oak trees, giving you prime views of the rolling Napa hills. And if you get hungry? Their on-site restaurant is ridiculously good, serving up dishes that pair perfectly with a glass (or bottle) of bubbly. Whether you’re a sparkling wine pro or just here for the scenery, Chandon is one of those places where you’ll want to hang out for hours.
On the weekends, tastings and experiences start around $65/person and are available 10 am – 4 pm by reservation. Walk-ins are also welcome upon availability until 4:15 pm.
#6 Cornerstone Cellars
📍 6505 Washington St, Yountville, CA 94599
So Cornerstone Cellars isn’t technically a “winery” in the traditional sense but it is a fantastic tasting room that my fiance (and dog) loved so I had to include it! They’re also located in downtown Yountville which is one of my favorite parts of Napa Valley.
They say Yountville is mostly just for old people but we’re in our 30s and love spending time in Yountville. Especially because there’s a Restoration Hardware (RH) Yountville that I looooove eating at. If you’re not familiar, RH restaurants are known for their impeccable interior design, aesthetic decor, and thoughtfully crafted menus.
And I love getting to pair a visit to RH and Cornerstone all in one. And also staying at The North Block Hotel in Yountville but that’s basically only for special occasions because it’s still too bougie for me to afford on the regular. Maybe some day 😂
Cornerstone Cellars is a boutique dog-friendly Napa Valley winery known for crafting bold, expressive wines that highlight the region’s diverse terroir. They source their grapes from prestigious vineyards across Napa Valley, including Howell Mountain, Oakville, and Rutherford, ensuring high-quality, vineyard-driven wines. Their portfolio includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and unique blends, all made with a focus on balance, structure, and aging potential.
Tastings here start at $50/person but if you’re an early riser, you can take advantage of their complimentary morning flight where you get a FREE signature flight for up to two guests for their first seating of the morning.
#7 Paraduxx
📍 7257 Silverado Trail, Napa, CA 94558
Paraduxx is probably my second favorite winery under the Duckhorn portfolio but comes in #1 on the dog-friendly scale. (Duckhorn is technically my first but they only allow service animals on their property so they get knocked down a few points for that).
I just love the outdoor terrace at Paraduxx. Especially once they’re done with the remodel, the front patio is going to be perfect for lounging around in the sun with Fido (or Bagel in our case) 🥯
Paraduxx Winery, located along the Scenic Silverado Trail in Napa Valley, is the only winery in the region exclusively dedicated to blended wines. As part of the Duckhorn Portfolio, Paraduxx is known for its bold and innovative red blends, often combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Syrah to create super unique wines with both structure and approachability.
Don’t worry! If red wine isn’t your thing, they also offer an all white tasting which my fiance loved. We even ended up bringing a few bottles back of their Proprietary Napa Valley White Wine Blend.
Oh and they also have a Barkuterie board here but I feel like the one at Migration was slightly better. Or maybe it’s just because I have a dog that refuses to eat anything that’s not made of meat.
Tastings here start at $45/person and reservations are required. If you live in the area, I definitely recommend signing up to be a member though because you get access to complimentary tastings at all of the Duckhorn properties.
#8 Sequoia Grove Winery
📍 8338 St Helena Hwy, Napa, CA 94558
Now let’s continue making our way up north to Sequoia Grove Winery 🌲
Sequoia Grove Winery is a dog-friendly family winery nestled in the heart of Rutherford, Napa Valley, surrounded by towering sequoia trees and lush vineyards. They’ve even been recognized as “The Best Estate Winery Tasting Room” for over five years now.
Known for its elegant, well-balanced wines, Sequoia Grove specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blends, crafted from some of Napa’s most renowned vineyards, including their own estate vines. The winery prides itself on a commitment to sustainable winemaking and terroir-driven expressions, making it a must-visit for those looking to enjoy top-tier Napa wines in a breathtaking setting.
You can visit Sequoia Grove anytime of the year but it’s a lot more fun during June, especially when they host their summer dog events!

#9 Alpha Omega Winery
📍 1155 Mee Ln, St Helena, CA 94574
We’re almost getting up to the tippy top of Napa Valley but not just quite yet!
Alpha Omega Winery is a luxury dog-friendly winery in the heart of Rutherford, Napa Valley, known for its elegant, terroir-driven wines and welcoming hospitality. Founded in 2006, Alpha Omega has quickly become a standout in Napa’s wine scene, crafting Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Bordeaux-style blends sourced from some of the region’s top vineyards.
The winery has a stunning outdoor terrace with incredible views of their fountains and the Mayacamas Mountains. There are even fire pits on the terrace for those early spring mornings or cozy winter afternoons. And yes, Alpha Omega is super dog-friendly.

#10 Whitehall Lane Winery

Located along Highway 29 in St. Helena, Whitehall Lane Winery is a small, family-owned dog-friendly winery in Napa Valley’s historic Rutherford appellation. Established in 1979, the winery sits on land that has been cultivated for grape growing since the mid-1800s, thanks to its well-draining soils and ideal climate.
Now owned by the Leonardini Family, Whitehall Lane has expanded to include eight estate vineyards across more than 200 acres in Napa and Sonoma, including the renowned Leonardini Vineyard in St. Helena. The winery is dedicated to producing high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and estate wines, all crafted with Napa Green-certified and sustainable farming practices.
The best part is that they’re located just up the street from Alpha Omega (and Tres Sabores which is another pet friendly winery) so you could easily hit all three wineries in the span of one day.
Tastings start at $40/person and reservations are recommended. They also offer an exclusive 2-for-1 tasting on Sundays through Fridays.
#11 Tamber Bey Vineyards
📍 1251 Tubbs Ln, Calistoga, CA 94515
And last but finally not least, we have the one-of-a-kind horse farm dog-friendly Calistoga winery — Tamber Bey Vineyards.
Located at the very tip top of Napa Valley, at the base of Mount St. Helena, Tamber Bey Winery offers a truly unforgettable Napa Valley experience. I swear people always tend to skip Calistoga and just stop at St. Helena but I’m here to tell you that’s dumb. Calistoga is one of the cutest little towns in California and it’s not nearly as stuffy as all the other towns in Napa Valley.
I guess it just depends on what you’re looking for. But even if you’re bougie (like I am sometimes), don’t sleep on Calistoga!!!
Founded in 1999, Tamber Bey stands apart as a working equestrian estate where guests can sip critically acclaimed wines stableside, surrounded by more than 20 live horses 🐴
Tamber Bey Winery isn’t just a paradise for wine lovers — it’s also one of the most pet friendly Napa Valley wineries. Well-behaved pups are welcome to join their owners for a tasting, and they’ll likely have some four-legged company of their own. The estate’s resident dogs often roam the grounds, happily mingling with both guests and the horses.
It’s also not uncommon to see dogs curiously sniffing around the stables, watching the horses from a safe distance, or lounging in the sun while their humans sip wine. With plenty of open space and a relaxed atmosphere, Tamber Bey offers a laid-back, pet-friendly experience where wine, animals, and breathtaking scenery come together.

Do the wineries serve food?
For the most part, the wineries in Napa Valley keep the focus on the wine, so don’t roll up expecting a full meal. Most spots offer charcuterie boards or tiny bites like nuts, cheese, or maybe some fancy olives to complement your tasting. But if you’re looking for a proper sit-down meal, only Chandon has a proper onsite restaurant.
It’s also worth mentioning that Tamber Bey offers a picnic lunch made by their friends at Sam’s General Store in Calistoga. The lunch includes a salad or sandwich of your choice, chips, cookie, and a glass of wine from their Vineyard Series.
Your best bet? Eat beforehand or plan to dine at one of Napa’s fantastic outdoor dog-friendly restaurants like Brix, RH Yountville, Gott’s Roadside, The Charter Oak, Calistoga Depot, or countless other amazing spots.
Because let’s be real. Wine tasting on an empty stomach is a risky (but fun) game. 🍷
Are there any restrictions on dog size or breed?
There aren’t any strict size or breed restrictions, but all wineries do have one golden rule: your dog needs to be well-behaved. After all, everyone deserves a great time in a relaxed atmosphere.
So all the wineries just ask that you keep your dog on a leash at all times and make sure they’re comfortable around people and other animals. Just like you, wineries want all guests (canine and human alike) to enjoy a fun and safe experience.

#5 Chandon

Who doesn’t love a little bubbly in Napa Valley? There aren’t many pure “champagne” houses in the valley so Chandon is one of the best. And one of the only ones that are dog friendly!
Chandon in Yountville is the ultimate spot for sparkling wine lovers who also appreciate a good vibe (and a good patio). As the first French-owned sparkling wine house in Napa, they’ve been perfecting the art of bubbles for decades, with standouts like Chandon Brut and Chandon Rosé that go down way too easily.
The property is super dog-friendly, with a huge grassy area where your pup can lounge while you sip. There’s plenty of outdoor seating under towering oak trees, giving you prime views of the rolling Napa hills. And if you get hungry? Their on-site restaurant is ridiculously good, serving up dishes that pair perfectly with a glass (or bottle) of bubbly. Whether you’re a sparkling wine pro or just here for the scenery, Chandon is one of those places where you’ll want to hang out for hours.
On the weekends, tastings and experiences start around $65/person and are available 10 am – 4 pm by reservation. Walk-ins are also welcome upon availability until 4:15 pm.
#6 Cornerstone Cellars
📍 6505 Washington St, Yountville, CA 94599
So Cornerstone Cellars isn’t technically a “winery” in the traditional sense but it is a fantastic tasting room that my fiance (and dog) loved so I had to include it! They’re also located in downtown Yountville which is one of my favorite parts of Napa Valley.
They say Yountville is mostly just for old people but we’re in our 30s and love spending time in Yountville. Especially because there’s a Restoration Hardware (RH) Yountville that I looooove eating at. If you’re not familiar, RH restaurants are known for their impeccable interior design, aesthetic decor, and thoughtfully crafted menus.
And I love getting to pair a visit to RH and Cornerstone all in one. And also staying at The North Block Hotel in Yountville but that’s basically only for special occasions because it’s still too bougie for me to afford on the regular. Maybe some day 😂
Cornerstone Cellars is a boutique dog-friendly Napa Valley winery known for crafting bold, expressive wines that highlight the region’s diverse terroir. They source their grapes from prestigious vineyards across Napa Valley, including Howell Mountain, Oakville, and Rutherford, ensuring high-quality, vineyard-driven wines. Their portfolio includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, and unique blends, all made with a focus on balance, structure, and aging potential.
Tastings here start at $50/person but if you’re an early riser, you can take advantage of their complimentary morning flight where you get a FREE signature flight for up to two guests for their first seating of the morning.
#7 Paraduxx
📍 7257 Silverado Trail, Napa, CA 94558
Paraduxx is probably my second favorite winery under the Duckhorn portfolio but comes in #1 on the dog-friendly scale. (Duckhorn is technically my first but they only allow service animals on their property so they get knocked down a few points for that).
I just love the outdoor terrace at Paraduxx. Especially once they’re done with the remodel, the front patio is going to be perfect for lounging around in the sun with Fido (or Bagel in our case) 🥯
Paraduxx Winery, located along the Scenic Silverado Trail in Napa Valley, is the only winery in the region exclusively dedicated to blended wines. As part of the Duckhorn Portfolio, Paraduxx is known for its bold and innovative red blends, often combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Syrah to create super unique wines with both structure and approachability.
Don’t worry! If red wine isn’t your thing, they also offer an all white tasting which my fiance loved. We even ended up bringing a few bottles back of their Proprietary Napa Valley White Wine Blend.
Oh and they also have a Barkuterie board here but I feel like the one at Migration was slightly better. Or maybe it’s just because I have a dog that refuses to eat anything that’s not made of meat.
Tastings here start at $45/person and reservations are required. If you live in the area, I definitely recommend signing up to be a member though because you get access to complimentary tastings at all of the Duckhorn properties.
#8 Sequoia Grove Winery

Now let’s continue making our way up north to Sequoia Grove Winery 🌲
Sequoia Grove Winery is a dog-friendly family winery nestled in the heart of Rutherford, Napa Valley, surrounded by towering sequoia trees and lush vineyards. They’ve even been recognized as “The Best Estate Winery Tasting Room” for over five years now.
Known for its elegant, well-balanced wines, Sequoia Grove specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blends, crafted from some of Napa’s most renowned vineyards, including their own estate vines. The winery prides itself on a commitment to sustainable winemaking and terroir-driven expressions, making it a must-visit for those looking to enjoy top-tier Napa wines in a breathtaking setting.
You can visit Sequoia Grove anytime of the year but it’s a lot more fun during June, especially when they host their summer dog events!

#9 Alpha Omega Winery

We’re almost getting up to the tippy top of Napa Valley but not just quite yet!
Alpha Omega Winery is a luxury dog-friendly winery in the heart of Rutherford, Napa Valley, known for its elegant, terroir-driven wines and welcoming hospitality. Founded in 2006, Alpha Omega has quickly become a standout in Napa’s wine scene, crafting Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Bordeaux-style blends sourced from some of the region’s top vineyards.
The winery has a stunning outdoor terrace with incredible views of their fountains and the Mayacamas Mountains. There are even fire pits on the terrace for those early spring mornings or cozy winter afternoons. And yes, Alpha Omega is super dog-friendly.

#10 Whitehall Lane Winery

Located along Highway 29 in St. Helena, Whitehall Lane Winery is a small, family-owned dog-friendly winery in Napa Valley’s historic Rutherford appellation. Established in 1979, the winery sits on land that has been cultivated for grape growing since the mid-1800s, thanks to its well-draining soils and ideal climate.
Now owned by the Leonardini Family, Whitehall Lane has expanded to include eight estate vineyards across more than 200 acres in Napa and Sonoma, including the renowned Leonardini Vineyard in St. Helena. The winery is dedicated to producing high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and estate wines, all crafted with Napa Green-certified and sustainable farming practices.
The best part is that they’re located just up the street from Alpha Omega (and Tres Sabores which is another pet friendly winery) so you could easily hit all three wineries in the span of one day.
Tastings start at $40/person and reservations are recommended. They also offer an exclusive 2-for-1 tasting on Sundays through Fridays.
#11 Tamber Bey Vineyards

And last but finally not least, we have the one-of-a-kind horse farm dog-friendly Calistoga winery — Tamber Bey Vineyards.
Located at the very tip top of Napa Valley, at the base of Mount St. Helena, Tamber Bey Winery offers a truly unforgettable Napa Valley experience. I swear people always tend to skip Calistoga and just stop at St. Helena but I’m here to tell you that’s dumb. Calistoga is one of the cutest little towns in California and it’s not nearly as stuffy as all the other towns in Napa Valley.
I guess it just depends on what you’re looking for. But even if you’re bougie (like I am sometimes), don’t sleep on Calistoga!!!
Founded in 1999, Tamber Bey stands apart as a working equestrian estate where guests can sip critically acclaimed wines stableside, surrounded by more than 20 live horses 🐴
Tamber Bey Winery isn’t just a paradise for wine lovers — it’s also one of the most pet friendly Napa Valley wineries. Well-behaved pups are welcome to join their owners for a tasting, and they’ll likely have some four-legged company of their own. The estate’s resident dogs often roam the grounds, happily mingling with both guests and the horses.
It’s also not uncommon to see dogs curiously sniffing around the stables, watching the horses from a safe distance, or lounging in the sun while their humans sip wine. With plenty of open space and a relaxed atmosphere, Tamber Bey offers a laid-back, pet-friendly experience where wine, animals, and breathtaking scenery come together.

Do the wineries serve food?
For the most part, the wineries in Napa Valley keep the focus on the wine, so don’t roll up expecting a full meal. Most spots offer charcuterie boards or tiny bites like nuts, cheese, or maybe some fancy olives to complement your tasting. But if you’re looking for a proper sit-down meal, only Chandon has a proper onsite restaurant.
It’s also worth mentioning that Tamber Bey offers a picnic lunch made by their friends at Sam’s General Store in Calistoga. The lunch includes a salad or sandwich of your choice, chips, cookie, and a glass of wine from their Vineyard Series.
Your best bet? Eat beforehand or plan to dine at one of Napa’s fantastic outdoor dog-friendly restaurants like Brix, RH Yountville, Gott’s Roadside, The Charter Oak, Calistoga Depot, or countless other amazing spots.
Because let’s be real. Wine tasting on an empty stomach is a risky (but fun) game. 🍷
Are there any restrictions on dog size or breed?
There aren’t any strict size or breed restrictions, but all wineries do have one golden rule: your dog needs to be well-behaved. After all, everyone deserves a great time in a relaxed atmosphere.
So all the wineries just ask that you keep your dog on a leash at all times and make sure they’re comfortable around people and other animals. Just like you, wineries want all guests (canine and human alike) to enjoy a fun and safe experience.
