Can anyone else admit to being influenced (like myself) by Instagram to visit the beautiful country of Morocco? And honestly I’m so glad I did because the reality exceeded all my expectations. If I hadn’t been lured by the stunning travel photos on social media, I probably would’ve missed out on visiting one of the most photogenic cities in the world. Whether you’re seeking the iconic blue hues of Jardin Majorelle or the hidden gems tucked away in the souks, you should know that Marrakech is an absolute paradise for photographers.
Get ready to fall even more in love with your feed because today we’re diving deep into the most Instagram-worthy places that Marrakech has to offer!

Ditch the map and embrace the maze! We’re starting our Marrakech photo adventure in the heart of the city: the Medina. This sprawling labyrinth of alleyways and souks is sensory overload in the best way possible, and there’s always a shot around every corner. While the entire Medina is filled with Instagrammable spots, here are my top picks for capturing the vibrant essence of Marrakech in a single shot!
📍Type in Place des Épices on Google Maps will get you there

Imagine a sensory explosion in a bustling square – that’s Place des Épices, Marrakech’s famed “Spice Square”. Towering displays of colorful spices, overflowing baskets of fresh produce, and friendly shopkeepers in traditional garb create a vibrant scene that’s any photographer’s dream. It’s the perfect spot to capture the essence of the Marrakech souk in a single Instagram-worthy shot.
📍 79 Souk Stailia, Marrakech 40000, Morocco

If youre looking for a beautiful handcrafted Moroccan lamp AND some gorgeous photos – then I highly recommend checking out Edken Lights in heart of the medina.
📍 31.632058, -7.986554
Koranschule, J2J7+R9R, Rue Assouel, Marrakesh 40000, Morocco

While Madrasa Ben Youssef is also a top place for photography, I absolutely fell in love with this tall pale red arch located just outside of the college. You’re basically getting a 3-in-1 with this location since the arch is located right next to both Madrasa Ben Youssef and the Marrakech Museum.
📍 29 طريق سيدي عبد العزيز, Marrakech 40000, Morocco

Kesh Cup Marrakech is a quaint little coffee shop located near Le Jardin Secret (another great spot for photography). It’s the perfect place to grab a quick afternoon pick me up while taking a few snaps from outside the window!
📍Rue res Teinturiers, 40000, Morocco

Also known as the “Dryer’s Souk”, Souk des Teinturiers is an absolute must for those that want to capture vibrant colors in every shade of the rainbow. This was one of my favorite souks to photograph as the shopkeeper also came out to show us how he mixes dye to achieve a specific color.
Time permitting, make sure you don’t skip out on any of these places below! You can find more detail detail on each location in my other blog posts about Marrakech.

Step off the bustling streets of Marrakech and into a world of hidden luxury! Marrakech’s magic extends beyond the souks, with stunning riads (traditional Moroccan hotels) offering more than just a place to rest your head. These havens are all Instagrammable places just waiting to be explored.
📍 23 Derb Sidi Lahcen Ou Ali, Bab Doukkala, 40030 Marrakech

This is the riad that my friend and I stayed at when we visited! The rooms were so nice, the location was central to everything, and the design was impeccable. You can check out my full review here of Riad BE Marrakech.
Even if you’re not staying here, you can book a lunch or spa day in order to access the riad! I highly recommend having breakfast or brunch on the rooftop. (You might even be able to see the Atlas Mountains on a clear day!)
📍 209 Rue Ank Jemel, Marrakesh 40000, Morocco

Built and inspired by a French couple, Le Riad Yasmine is easily one of the most photogenic riads in Marrakech. There are only 8 bedrooms here so you’re guaranteed a more intimate feel than other riads.
Similar to Riad BE, you can still access the riad as along as you dine here. There’s more information on their website but it looks like a booking is required in order to visit for non-guests.
Ps. Can you tell I love my blue and green hues set against a lovely palette of neutrals?
📍 Rue Abou Abbas El Sebti، 40000, Morocco

This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning The Royal Mansour, which is one of the most luxurious hotels in Morocco. The hotel is designed in a traditional Moroccan style, with individual riads, all featuring private courtyards and plunge pools. You’re welcome to respectfully drop by and take a look of the lobby! It’s easy to see why people even host their weddings in a beautiful space like this!

Located about 45 minutes away from the city center, the Agafay Desert is popular destination for day trips. It’s also a great place to photograph different scenery including a desert sunset, camel rides, and more. I highly recommend booking this day trip to the desert to get some shots of Morocco beyond the city walls.

Honestly, I’ve probably barely scratched the surface on photo spots in Marrakech but I hope this list gave you a good head start. You probably didn’t even need to read this blog post because you’ll realize once you get there that every corner in Marrakech is worth capturing. It is a city truly unlike any other so make sure you have enough storage on your iphone, your lenses are cleaned, and you’ve packed extra SD cards!
