If you’ve been following me for awhile, you probably know the majority of my flights around the world are booked using credit card points. If you live in the states like I do, you’ll also know that travel credit cards are becoming exceedingly popular here. The market is now filled with numerous cards catering to die hard travelers like us, offering a wide range of tailored perks. In addition to flights, some travel credit cards also include access to exclusive airport lounges, priority boarding, free checked bags, travel insurance, TSA pre-check, and so much more.
However, with all the different cards and banks that offer these cards, it can sometimes be impossible to figure out which airline loyalty program is best to transfer points to and how to actually maximize those points. Good thing I recently found out about Roame.Travel which helps solves that problem. Keep reading to learn more about my favorite way to book flights using points and miles.
Keep in mind that this site contains affiliate links. I may receive a commission for purchases made through these links. However, this does not impact my honest reviews and comparisons. I only make recommendations based on personal experience(s), in order to help you make the best decisions while traveling!
First, Roame is a FREE new award travel search engine for flights. Think of it as “Google Flights” for your credit card points and miles. Currently, Roame covers 14 airline loyalty programs, with more coming soon. They search over 180+ different airlines, including both alliance and non-alliance partners affiliated with the covered airline loyalty programs.
The first step is to sign up for a free account. You still get a preview of the flight deals without signing up, but it’s best to sign up (it’s literally free) to view ALL available flight options. It took me less than 30 seconds to sign up with a magic link.
The next step is to search for flights to where you’re headed! I decided to search from SFO (my home airport) to London, my favorite city in the world. Ps. the techie in me loves the clean and beautiful user interface. There’s nothing worse than a cluttered search experience but Roame gets it. The website is extremely easy to navigate and the search results came back almost instantly!
As is typical with most travel hacking, flexibility is key to finding amazing deals. You’re typically better off booking last minute and being flexible with destinations and/or dates (if possible). These were some of the results that came back and they’re extremely impressive. 58,000 miles for a nonstop SFO-LHR United Business Class flight is an INCREDIBLE deal.
I personally have loyalty with United and American Airlines (as well as a handful of credit cards where the points can be transferred into existing loyalty programs) so I’m stoked on these results as it gives me really great options for booking.
Lastly, the best part about Roame is definitely the SkyView feature. As a Friends of Roame member, you get access to this tool that allows you to quickly search for all award flights from region to region (e.g. NYC to Europe) and up to a week at a time by toggling on ± 3 days.
I can’t tell you how many times I have literally spent hours browsing different business class flight deals from the US to Europe and/or Asia. SkyView is also how I was able to book my upcoming trip to Copenhagen in business class for under 60,000 miles!
Overall, Roame is another great tool to add to the travel arsenal. As someone that’s always on the hunt for the best deals overseas, I’m so happy that Roame was created to help me save time, maximize my points, and identify new travel destinations that weren’t previously on my radar!
